BERKELEY, Calif. - The Fresno State women's tennis team wrapped up their weekend at the ITA Regional at the Hellman Tennis Complex.
How it happened
Fresno State started the tournament on a high note winning the opening doubles matches. Both Bulldogs pairs Eliza Dunbar & Sofia Pizzoni and Louna Cormier & Klara Vukicevic handing their opponents a clean 8-0 sweep. The pairs would then fall to their opponents in the doubles round of 32.
Dunbar held three wins on the weekend, two of which came in the singles qualifying round. Dunbar defeated Tavcar and Katz for a chance to enter the singles main draw bracket. The Australian won both qualifying matches in two sets. Dunbar's time came to an end in the singles main draw of 64 with a loss to Symons from Oregon.
Pizzoni and Lopicic's first and last match also came in the singles main draw of 64. Both 'Dogs lost to their counterparts, 6-1 in two sets. Cormier and Vukicevic did not win out of the qualifying draw and saw a consolation draw on Sunday morning. Cormier came through with a win against Brinkmann (Sac St.) 6-4. 6-3. Vukicevic saw a default win after Appling (Oregon) withdrew due to injury and the match stopped at 4-0.
