McCarthy grabs Hedda Koehne from transfer portal

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State women's basketball head coach Ryan McCarthy announces the next addition to the 2025-26 roster in Hedda Koehne, announced on Friday afternoon.

Koehne, a transfer from the University of Alaska Anchorage, follows coach McCarthy to the next level. Kohne will be in her final year of eligibility at Fresno State.

"Hedda is a prototypical European post with great fundamentals and a well rounded game inside the post. She is a very good post defender and has great timing for altering shots," said head coach Ryan McCarthy. "She has good touch around the rim and can score from mid-range with great efficiency. I'm excited to see her impact our team with her unique skill set."

The 6-foot-2 forward spent the last season at UAA and averaged 5.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks. The big was ranked third in the GNAC in blocks per game, placed top-20 on UAA single-season lists for blocks (t-16th, 40) and blocks per game (19th, 1.29) and was the sixth Seawolf to record five or more blocks in a single game.

Koehne, a native of Lette, Germany spent two seasons at Otero Junior College in Colorado. At Otero, Koehne started in 49 games, claimed a 2023-24 Defensive Player of the Year honor and made the NJCAA national tournament.

She is the third portal addition for the Bulldogs this offseason, joining Indiya Clarke (Wofford) and Ashlyn Rean (UAA).
