Diamond 'Dogs defeat Air Force 5-1, clinch series win

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team secured another Mountain West series victory on Saturday after defeating Air Force 5-1 at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.

The win pushed Fresno State to .500 on the season with a 19-19 overall record, 12-5 in MW play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Air Force scored their lone run of the game in the first inning, a solo home run by the second batter in the Falcon lineup.

The Air Force lead did not last for long as Eddie Saldivar led off the Bulldog half of the first with a double down the right field line. Justin Stransky, Fresno State's second batter in the lineup, crushed a homer to left field to quickly take the lead.

Bobby "Barrels" Blandford followed with a moonshot of his own to right field in the fifth inning. Blandford also singled in the seventh inning to drive in Murf Gray, who had singled earlier in the inning, as the Bulldogs' final run of the night.

NOTES

Justin Stransky's hitting streak advances to 14 games.

Bobby Blandford went 3-for-3 on the night, only a triple shy of the cycle.

Fresno State has won all but one Mountain West series so far, having only lost a series to UNLV.

Starting pitcher Aidan Cremarosa pitched a career-high 8.0 innings, striking out 10 and allowing only one hit.

UP NEXT

Fresno State will conclude the series against Air Force on Saturday at 1:05 p.m. PT at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.
