FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State volleyball team is at the top of the conference standings this week with a pair of Mountain West matches to split the week between home and away venues.

The Bulldogs will host Nevada on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Save Mart Center for Staff & Faculty Appreciation night. All Fresno State staff and faculty will receive free admission to the match.

Fresno State will then travel to Logan, Utah to face reigning MW Regular Season Champion Utah State on Saturday at 12 p.m. PT. Both matches will be broadcast on the MW Network.

AT THE PEAK

After a going 4-0 over the past two week of conference matches, the Bulldogs are at the top of the conference standings.

Fresno State is tied for the top spot in the MW with Colorado State, sharing a 6-2 record.

Setter Brooke Cowie leads the conference in total assists with 796 this season, averaging 10.08 per set.

In addition, sophomore libero Dionii Fraga leads the conference in total digs with 316.

CRUNCHING THE NUMBERS

As the season progresses, five Bulldogs are nearing major career statistic milestones:

Brooke Cowie: 85 assists away from 1,000 career assists.

Dionii Fraga: 140 digs away from 1,000 career digs.

Sydney Gazzaniga: 138 digs away from 1,000 career digs.

Addison Haluska: 138 kills away from 1,000 career kills.

Kasey Purry: 64 kills away from 500 career kills.

CHAMP vs. CHAMP

Every season the Mountain West appoints two champions: the regular season champion and tournament champion.

In 2024, the Utah State Aggies earned the title of out-right regular season champion and Fresno State was named tournament champion.

Saturday's match marks the first and only time the two champions will face each other in the 2024 regular season.

Utah State defeated Fresno State twice in the regular season last year, but the Bulldogs bit back in the MW tournament, 3-1 to advance to the championship match.
