Budwig lands lifetime best in hammer at NCAA West First Round

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – With three of Fresno State's five events completed at the NCAA West First Round at Hornet Stadium, the Bulldogs' top finish on Thursday came from Fowler native Jocelynn Budwig as she placed 25th in the hammer.

The Mountain West's reigning champion in the event landed a personal best of 60.02m/196-11 on her opening throw. She heads into the offseason ranked No. 9 on the program's all-time list as only the Top 12 in each event advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Amelia DiPaola was 33rd in the event with a mark of 57.75m/189-5.

Cierra Jackson and Jordyn Bryant finished 27th and 34th, respectively in the shot put. Their best tosses registered 15.78m/51-9.25 and 15.33m/50-3.5.

In the javelin, the 'Dogs finished 29th (Chloe Wood), 35th (Harriette Mortlock), 37th (Cerah Moren) and 46th (Rhiannon Genilla).

Fresno State's final events will be contested on Saturday. Jackson and Bryant will compete in the discus at 1 p.m., while Rachela Pace will be in the triple jump at 6 p.m.
